THE REMOVAL OF ATMOSPHERIC CO2, AN EMERGING AREA OF RESEARCH

Main Article Content

Abstract

The article summarizes the work of the third international conference on negative CO2 emissions in Oxford from 18 to 22 June, in which the main options currently discussed for removing CO2 from the atmosphere and storing it in the biosphere, soil, underground or in the oceans. This is a rapidly developing field of scientific research. Aspects relating to the role that CO2 removal technologies can have in the context of climate policies and sustainable development were also discussed, as well as aspects relating to the verification and monitoring of removals.
