SUMMARY OF THE SANITARY-ENVIRONMENTAL SEMINAR “EXPERIENCES OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY APPLIED TO WASTE TREATMENT”

Abstract

The term "circular economy" has now entered our everyday life. Although Resource Recovery has been applied for years, especially by industry sector, this concept represents an important approach to guarantee the sustainability of a production cycle. The aim of the Sanitary-Environmental Engineering seminar held in Brescia on 15 December 2023 was to address the topic of the valorization of resources in some industrial sectors of waste treatment. For each of the five fields taken into consideration (sewage sludge, construction, metallurgy, municipal waste, waste incineration) an initial intervention was presented (carried out by an expert from the University world) illustrating the alternatives for recovering waste. Then a concrete example of circular economy was presented by the various participating companies.
