Abstract

In May 1998, at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Brescia, the working group on the “wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) management” was established. It comprises university researchers, managers of water and wastewater treatment plants, and other stakeholders. The aims of working group is to study the most important issues on the management of the WWTPs. Till now, the working group has dealt with various issues concerning the management of municipal and industrial WWTPs and the management of drinking water treatment plants; it has involved more than two hundred active members over time.

The results of the working group were presented on several conferences and were collected in books (or report) edited by various publishers. After twenty years of work, it was considered useful to promote (with a conference held in Brescia on 28th November 2018) a meeting with the potentially interested people, with the aim to think on the working group activities carried out and to identify the issues to be addressed in the future.
